117-year-old woman reveals the ultimate secrets to long life

A South African woman, Linah Mmola aged 117 says the secret to a long life is staying true to one man and good food.  Linah Mmola celebrated her belated birthday on Saturday surrounded by her family from her only daughter to her great, great grandchildren . Mmola says she was born in the year of the first Boer War in South Africa in the late 1800s.
Born and raised in Limpopo (Northernmost province of South Africa) and living in Tembisa, she says she has lived to 117 thanks to spinach and pap which she used to make for her family.

While her family is trying to track down her original ID documents, her only daughter, Sarah Bothane says she was born on 2 January 1898.

“She raised me very good.”

Mmola says she wants to live long enough to see her three bedroom house in Tembisa renovated to its former glory.

Children as young as three and woman of 102 from the township have joined Mmola to celebrate her 117th birthday party.
