Bill to amend Code of Conduct act scales second reading at the Senate
The bill to amend the Code of Conduct Act with the objective of removing the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, from the office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF and the Presidency, scaled its second reading in the senate today April 14th. The bill which is coming when Senate president Bukola Saraki is facing trial at the CCT, will cut down the powers of the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, and CCT.
The Code of Conduct Act CAP C15 LFN 2004 bill is being sponsored by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, one of Saraki's loyalist.
While debating on the bill today, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu said the bill was being amended in the interest of Nigerians.
