The woman who accused Cosatu secretary general Zwelinzima Vavi of rape is reportedly demanding R4-million in damages.
According to a report in the Mail & Guardian Jacqueline Phooko is seeking the money from Vavi, Cosatu and the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa).
In court papers submitted by Phooko, she claims that the allegations dismissed by Numsa, have damaged her reputation and rendered her unemployable.
Vavi admitted to having an affair with Phooko and suspended for bring the trade federation into disrepute. Vavi was later re-instated after the court found his suspension to be unlawful.
According to a report on Eyewitness News, Phooko is demanding R600 000 from Vavi, R3-million from Cosatu and R500 000 from Numsa’s Mbuso Ngubane for statements she alleges have damaged her reputation.
