A South African girl body was found hanging

SIMPHIWE Khomo had not slept since his daughter went missing two weeks ago.

But on Sunday, the 35-year-old from KwaMakhutha, south of Durban, received the worst news possible – his daughter’s body had been found hanging from a tree!

The body of Nokukhanya Zama (15), was found partially decomposed in the bushes in Mkhazini near Folweni.

She was reportedly naked with signs that she had been raped and her body was mutilated.

Simphiwe said the gruesome discovery was made by hunters passing the bush.

 “They said their dogs went straight to where the body was hanging.

“They found it swinging from a rope tied to a tree.

“I guess they phoned the cops because I received a call from the police station where I had reported her missing,” he said.

Nokukhanya, who was about to start grade 11, left for church early on a Sunday morning but never returned.

“People said she was taken by a white Quantum while waiting for a taxi.

“When I called the church, they said she never arrived,” said Simphiwe.

Major Thulani Zwane confirmed the incident and said the police were investigating.

“A 15-year-old girl was found hanging in the bush.

“A postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” he said.
