Frequent daytime urinary symptoms and treatment
Pollakiuria is abnormal or frequent urination that cuts across all age groups - children, toddlers and adults during the daytime.
Also called 'daytime urinary frequency.' The sufferers of Pollakiuria visit the loo very often. The good news is that it is curable.
Frequency
It is estimated that normal people urinate four to five times during the day and once at night but those that have Pollakiuria urinate more frequently at an interval of less than 2 hours and a minimum of twice at night.
Also, sufferers feel the urge to urinate but might have difficulty doing so. Other symptoms also include burning sensation when urinating.
Causes
The possible causes include cancer of the bladder, urinary tract infections, prostate cancer, stroke, stress, alcoholism, poorly controlled diabetes, parial obstruction such as prostatic enlargement.
Treatment
Pollakiuria is curable. If you observe any of the symptoms, see a physician urgently. Underlying causes should be well-treated. If associated with stress, the symptoms will stop as soon as stress levels have been lowered.
If your child experiences this problems, there are medications that do help. Oxybutynin is a medicine that helps combat and control the urgent need to urinate and treats different bladder infections.
Children also do have emotional issues and allowing your child to comfortably talk about what worries them may also be effective in relieving the symptoms.
