Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, Justice Alloy Nwankwo, has discharged no fewer than 28 prison inmates awaiting trial in Abakaliki and Afikpo prisons.
Other 21 inmates were also granted bail during a jail delivery exercise at the prisons.
The exercise carried out by the chief judge threw up some issues in criminal justice delivery in the state.
Justice Nwankwo said the issues include lack of case files or information on inmates, unlawful detention and trumped-up charges by authorities.
