Residents want foreign shops back

While the Somali Community Board has advised foreign shop owners affected by violence and looting in Gauteng not to return to their business, locals residents have used social media to urge them to come back.

Residents of Soweto were left without electricity last night thanks to load shedding, and they were forced to walk long distances to get candles.

Some complained about now having to pay much more for candles and other products than they would have to pay at foreign-owned shops...Read some of the complains below...

After last week's #Sowetounrest today there is no electricity and residents now need candles. Guess from who? Yep you got that right.

Somalians r only cheap by 50cents nd sell their own products for interest plus thy don't eat their stock,so bring back da spaza shops.

there is nowhere to buy the R10 Sparletta. OMG what have you guys done?? Bring back our Somalians.

The same communities that violently evicted foreign shop owners are now complianing about a lack of shops and high prices at the shops left
