South African police sweep through Alexandra as xenophobic violence spreads (Photos)
There is a high police presence in Alexandra township, north of Johannesburg as xenophobic violence spreads across South Africa.
There is mass rioting as locals have attempted to loot shops.
Sounds of gun fire could be heard with police firing rubber bullets at the crowd.
A number of suspects have been arrested by the police.
London Road in the township is now closed and covered in rubble.
