The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a baby girl at 8.34am this morning, weighing 8 lbs 3 oz, Prince William was present during the princess' birth at St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington. The birth was announced in the traditional manner with an unofficial town crier made the announcement with a notice attached to the railings outside Buckingham Palace where a jubilant crowd cheered with delight.
The Duchess and her newborn daughter are both doing well, a palace spokesman said.
The new Princess is fourth in line to the British Throne.
