Jungle Justice: Youths burn three armed robbers in Benue State

Three suspected armed robbers met their Waterloo on Tuesday after they were apprehended by some youths in Adikpo, in the Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to Punch, a witness said that the robbers had been burnt to death by the mob before the police arrived at the scene.

He said the men had attacked a filling station located at a junction in the area around 10am.

He said, “The three men emerged from nowhere and asked people on the premises of the filling station to lie face down. They shot into the air.

“At a point, they asked for the cashier of the filling station. However, a man noticed that they had expended their bullets and challenged their leader. The action destabilised the gang and they took to their heels.

“The courage of the young man made other youths and motorcycle riders to chase the robbers. They apprehended them, beat them to a pulp, and set them ablaze.”

The council Sole Administrator, Mr. Teryila Iorhemen, confirmed the incident.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Moses Yamu, said the police had commenced investigation into the matter.

He, however, advised residents not to take the law into their own hands.
